Odin's Raven Book

Above: Some items donated by Mr Emanuelli, who was mistaken as an enemy alien and interned at the Peveril Camp in Peel, along with other Italian internees and other enemy aliens. Fortunately in 1942, he was able to be released after a tribunal in London.

He has written a book about his life and times called A Sense of Belonging, and sent a copy to the Ward Library.

Stained glass window donated by Peel Town Commissioners Painting of the first Peel Viking Festival 1961 Click on the images to enlarge
This stained glass window was donated by Peel Town Commissioners. It was made and paid for by the Clothworkers Company of London to be put in the New Clothworkers Junior School in Peel (now Shoprite). This painting was bought by the Leece Museum Trust. It was painted by Mrs Cannan-Bleakley of Peel. It is of the the first Peel Viking Festival in 1961. It shows a fine record of Peel in the early 1960s.

Badge made at Knockaloe internment camp Cabinet made by an internee at the Knockaloe Camp during WW1. The cabinet was made for C.H. Cowley for his work as the chemist at the camp. donated by George and Diane Durber.

Beaded lizard from Knockaloe This beaded lizard made at Knockaloe in 1917 was recently donated to the museum by Diana Gibbs from West Sussex on the occasion of her wedding on the Island.  
Manx Clover name plate The name plate from the Manx Clover (left) has been salvaged from the vessel and is now in the museum
Robert Watterson medal Harry Costain medal

There were seven medals awarded to the crew of the PL11 Wanderer for their part in the rescue of over 150 lives from the RMS Lusitania after a German U-boat, off the Old Head of Kinsale, Southern Irelend, torpedoed the liner.

The medals of two of the crew are currently on display in the Museum (see left).

Robert Watterson Medal. Donated by Mrs Pam Lightfoot, Greatgrandaughter of Robert Watterson on behalf of the descendents of Robert Watterson.

Harry Costain's medal. Loaned by Garry and Melvyn Reid, grandsons of Harry Costain.

A sextant

Billy Quane's uniform from World War II. We also have a stock of new WW1 photographs from the Knockaloe Prisoner of War Camp. Painting of "The Kate", 1903, built by Henry Graves for the Quirk family. The ship was built in Peel on the site which became Quirk's coal yard and will soon become the site for new apartments. (Unknown artist). A sextant. Once the property of Commander K Greene, long time leader of the Peel Scout movement.
