The MINUTES of a GENERAL MEETING held in the Board Room, Town Hall, Derby Road, Peel on Wednesday 16th March 2005 at 7.00 p.m.

MINUTES 04/477 The Minutes of the meeting held
on
MANX HARRIERS 04/478 The Chairman referred back to
Minute 04/431 and requested that the hill footpath be cleaned in advance of the
Peel hill race on 26th March 2005.
FLAG DAY 04/479 Mr. Lace referred back to Minute
04/441 and enquired as to the amount raised by the RNLI in respect of it 2004
flag day collection. The Town Clerk
undertook to seek the information from Mr. Malcolm Kelly. NOTED
PHILIP CHRISTIAN 04/480 Reference
was made back to Minute 04/442 and
CENTRE it
was noted that no response to date had been received with regard to a possible
renewal of the Army Cadet lease. It was AGREED that the Board would assume that
the Army Cadet Force would vacate the premises in the absence of any response
to the contrary.
Arising
therefrom Mr. Lightfoot referred to the playgroup yard. It was noted that Street Heritage Limited had
undertaken to tidy up the area and the Town Clerk was requested to progress
this matter with the company.
PROPOSED 04/481 The Town Clerk advised that
under a public
NATIONAL HERITAGE consultation exercise it was intended that
the
AREAS
MANX TRI-CLUB 04/482 Upon request it was AGREED that the Peel Duathlon to be held
on
WILD LIFE PARK 04/483 Members considered a proposed
voucher scheme issued by the management of the Wildlife Park at Ballaugh,
Curraghs and it was AGREED that the
Campsite be included within the voucher scheme.
CAMPSITE 04/484 Consideration was given to a
letter from Mr.
WEDDING RECEPTION Fargher and Miss Dryden over a request to
use the Campsite grounds for a wedding reception on

widened slightly with the gate pillar being re-built.
ONCHAN SCOUT 04/485 Consideration was given to a
request from the
TROOP Scout
Leader of the 2nd Onchan Scout Group regarding a summer camp at the
Commissioners campsite from 31st July to
PARISH WALK 04/486 A request had been made from
the Department
2005 of
Transport for comments regarding the proposed road closure for the 2005 Parish
Walk. In so far as the road closure in
respect of
VINTAGE 04/487 Consideration was given to a
request from the
MOTORCYCLE CLUB Secretary
to the Vintage Motorcycle Club to stage the 33rd Manx Rally on
COMMISSIONERS 04/488 A document outlining a list of
proposed
WEBSITE improvements
to the website was considered and AGREED.
VIKING 04/489 The Town Clerk referred to the
complaint
LONGHOUSE regarding
the condition of the Viking Longhouse building.
It was noted that Mr. Mansell, Environmental Health Officer had
inspected the area and met with the new owner of the property who had carried
out remedial works to prevent any falling masonry affecting the adjacent
neighbours gardens. NOTED
IRIS 04/490 Consideration was given to a
request from
TRANSMISSION
CAR PARK Christopher
of the Department of Transport regarding Mr. Lace’s proposal that the car park
be extended. NOTED
MANX FOLK 04/492 Consideration was given to a letter
from the
DANCE SOCIETY Secretary
to the Manx Folk Dance Society concerning a visit of the Wayfarers Folk Dance
Group from
ROAD TRAFFIC 04/493 The Town Clerk referred to a
road closure Order
REGULATION ACT 1985 made by the Department of Transport in
respect of a section of Market Street whilst furniture delivery work was being
undertaken on Thursday 31st March 2005. NOTED
PORT ERIN 04/494 The Town Clerk indicated that
the Chairman of
CIVIC SUNDAY Port
Erin Commissioners would hold his Civic Sunday Service on

request for a

of the initial decision to refuse permission for approval in principle for a
residential development of six town houses on derelict land, garage and workshop,
CASTLE STREET 04/496 It was reported that the solar

DOG BINS 04/497 Mr. Lace enquired whether an
additional dog bin could be located at the bottom of Station Hill where there
was a particular problem with dog fouling.
AGREED Arising therefrom the Chairman made a plea
that dog owners continue clean up after their dogs.
SUNDAY MARKET 04/498 The Chairman indicated that he
had been contacted by a resident with a view to re-introducing a market in Peel
which could take place on the harbour tongue on a Sunday. Ms. Hardman suggested whether use of
