CHAIRMAN’S 07/260 The Chairman welcomed the Press to the
WELCOME meeting and thanked Mr. Lightfoot for judging the hop-tu-naa competition. The Chairman read out a letter of thanks from Mrs. Jennifer Leece for the generous donation to the event.
MINUTES 07/261 The Minutes of the meeting held on
NEW BUS 07/262 Reference was made back to Minute 07/235
SHELTER and Mr. Lace enquired as to whether the litter bin had been installed at the new bus shelter. The Town Clerk advised that it was still awaiting installation at the bus shelter but would be dealt with as a matter of urgency.
Arising therefrom comment was made on the angle of the bus shelter seat. Mr. Lightfoot indicated that the bus shelter was of a standard construction and the seat was angled to prevent people from sleeping on them. Comment was made that the new shelter was well used by bus passengers.
RECYCLING 07/263 Members considered a letter from the Waste
SITES Operations
Management Unit of the Department of Local Government and the Environment dated

ensued as to possible additional sites within the Town for recycling
facilities. It was suggested that the
two new estates at Ballawattleworth and Ballatessan Meadow might benefit from
additional facilities if the space could be provided. It was AGREED
that the

German should be tasked with removing seaweed from the beaches of the

SHELTER Redmayne in which he expressed the view that the new bus shelter was not being adequately utilised and was wrongly located outside his property Thie Corneil. Members were of the view that a lot of residents from Westlands used the new bus shelter together with other younger users and that a suitable response answering the specific points raised by Mr. Redmayne in his letter be made by the Town Clerk.
NATIONAL 07/265 Members noted receipt of a letter from the
SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE Chief Minister inviting the Chairman
and Commissioners to the National Service of Remembrance and Rededication at
the Royal Chapel,

ON APPEAL for 6th November 2007 in respect of an Appeal application by Dandara Contracting Limited in which an Appeal against refusal for temporary relocation of emergency only access gate to allow access for residents of elderly persons housing, residential development under construction behind dwellings off Rheast Bridson, Ballawattleworth Farm, Peel had been made. It was AGREED that no comment be made on the application
PEEL HILL 07/270 Consideration was given to a request from the
RACE Manx Fell Runners
organisation who wished to hold Round 2 of the Winter League involving Peel
Hill on
CHRISTMAS 07/271 Discussion ensued over the arrangements of the
LIGHTS switching on of the
Christmas tree and Michael Street Christmas lights. It appeared that Mr. Jones would take on the
role of Santa Claus and it was AGREED
to enquire of the organisers whether they were happy for Santa to be situated
at the Market Place or
EXPRESS BUS 07/272 Mr. Lightfoot referred to earlier discussion with Mr. Maule of the National Transport Bus Company concerning the provision of an express bus service to include Ballawattleworth Estate. Noting that Mr. Maule no longer worked for the bus company it was AGREED to make contact with Mr. Les Cannan to try and resurrect the issue of provision of a service to this estate.
COMMISSIONERS 07/273 Mrs. Birkett referred to the preparation of the
NEWSLETTER latest newsletter and indicated that she had acquired a special offer from the Post Office of £105 per 1000 leaflets posted and delivered. It was AGREED to accept the offer for the delivery of the Commissioners newsletter to all the dwellings in Peel.
This
part of the meeting ended at
