CHAIRMAN’S 07/221 The Chairman welcomed the Press to the

RAGGATT 07/223 Mr. Lace referred back to Minute 07/169 and
LANDFILL suggested that the disposal of leachate into the River Neb should cease with an alternative outfall being considered at Kirk Michael. The Chairman indicated that Mr. Crookall, MHK was looking into the matter and that a certain proposal maybe of value for future discussion in this respect.
Mr. Gimbert referred to statistical information he had obtained from the Public Analyst which he had subsequently passed to the Marine Conservation Society for comment. The Chairman indicated that this matter should be discussed In Committee.
VIKING FESTIVAL 07/224 Mr. Lightfoot referred to the two pipes placed under the sand on the beach during the Viking Festival and indicated that a 45 degree bend in one of the pipes was holed and required repair. It was AGREED that it may be of advantage to retain the pipes in situ rather than remove them completely. It was AGREED that the Technical Officer look into the matter.
PICNIC AREA 07/225 Reference was made back to Minute 07/194
HEADLANDS and it was noted that the replacement picnic table would be installed during the Spring 2008.
BALLAWATTLE- 07/226 Mr. Gimbert referred back to Minute 07/195
WORTH MAINTENANCE and enquired as to certain works undertaken at

It was AGREED to make no comment on the application.
PA 07/0197/B 07/233 Members noted the decision of the Minister
ON APPEAL upon the recommendation of the appointed Inspector concerning an approval to discharge condition 1 of PA 05/00665/R to retain containers, Heathfield Yard, Patrick Street, Peel. NOTED
SMOKING 07/234 Members noted receipt of a letter from
SHELTER Partington Nixon and Kinrade on behalf of Heron and Brearley Limited concerning the provision of external smoking shelters outside two public houses namely The Highwayman and The Royal Hotel. Heron and Brearley wished to assure the Commissioners that each smoking shelter would have appropriate receptacles for cigarette ends to avoid the proliferation of litter when the smoking ban became law in March 2008. Mr. Lightfoot suggested that a similar commitment should be obtained from other publicans and café proprietors in the Town to ensure there was not a proliferation of cigarette ends outside premises when the ban was introduced. It was AGREED that an appropriate letter be issued to proprietors in this respect.
