The Board of Peel Town Commissioners met on 19 June 2025. The following resolutions were made on the agenda items:

The Board agreed to invite the Department of Infrastructure’s officers and Minister to either their 18 September 2025 or 16 October 2025 Board meeting to discuss the Department’s proposals for a 20mph speed limit in Peel. The Board have previously written to the Department to request a meeting after the local elections. The Commissioners welcomed the opportunity to resurrect the Department’s original self-enforcing 20 mph proposal for lower Peel and to discuss the methodology behind the latest proposal for the broader use of non-self-enforcing 20 mph urban zones.

The Board agreed a STEM student could collect car parking data and undertake a review of the literature during July and August 2025 to update the 2013 Peel Car Parking Study.

The Board noted the petition advert had been placed in the press in June 2025 for the purchase of 11 properties at Cowley Terrace and for accepting the donation of the adjoining field. The petition to purchase these houses was valued at £1,750,000 (or £159,000 per property) with the loan funded via the Government’s housing deficiency scheme to provide social housing.

The Board agreed to write to the Department of Enterprise to seek a change to the TT racing schedule to reinstate the Sunday rest/contingency day. The Board delegated the review of this year’s 2025 Peel TT Day to their Lead Member Committee for Events.

The Board agreed to provide £5,000 funding to support Peel Youth Club’s Summer Holiday Club to allow young persons from Peel on limited income to take part in this activities offered by this Club. This funding is subject to receipt of information on the cost of providing these activities.

The Board agreed the Chair and Town Clerk should attend the Legislative Council for the Call for Evidence on 24 June 2025 to provide a statement on the Local Government Amendment Bill. The Board noted the Local Authorities had sought a deferment of these proceedings to permit the submission of written statements from all Local Authorities. The Board noted the current one week timescale was a very short period of time for the submission of this information to the Legislative Council.
